European Framework for the Promotion of Mental Health in Elite Sports Organisations (EUPHORIA, by its English acronym)
The Career Support and the Science, Medicine and Technology Units of the CAR are participating, together with the UAB’s Sports Research Institute, in the EUPHORIA project, co-funded by the European Union’s Erasmus+ Programme (No. 101184201).
EUPHORIA Project Vision
The overall aim and vision of the EUPHORIA project is to facilitate and optimise whole-environment mental health interventions at the meso level (institutions and organisations) within European elite and talent development sports organisations. More specifically, the current project will develop and test a comprehensive mental health framework, offering organisations concrete guidelines and resources to design, deliver and evaluate whole-environment mental health programmes.
EUPHORIA Objectives
-
To examine current approaches, challenges and barriers to systematic mental health programming at the meso level from the perspective of organisational leaders and policy-makers.
-
To co-design a mental health framework that can support organisations in developing whole-environment mental health programmes, including a self-assessment and benchmarking tool.
-
To implement and test the relevance, applicability and effectiveness of the mental health framework in partner organisations through multiple in-depth case studies.
Expected Impact of the Project
-
To promote and raise awareness of the issue of mental health in elite sport.
-
To provide opportunities to develop a detailed understanding of the role of the whole environment in promoting mental health.
-
To offer recommendations and improve organisational policy opportunities for promoting mental health.
-
To facilitate mental health-related cooperation among stakeholders in sport, education and health.
